Factory Migration for foreign companies in China

On June 6th, Mr. Etienne Charlier, GM of EU Sino Business consulting company, gave a speech and shared his opinions about factory migration for foreign companies in China with audience of European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCC).

Manufacturing companies in China are facing more and more challenges during the economic transformation. These challenges might come from city upgrade or urban renewal, rising land price, industrial park re-position, or green manufacturing. As a result, established manufacturing plants may need to be liquidated /or relocated in short notice.  There would be significant operational and legal issues that need to be resolved during the assets and people migrations.

How the companies can manage the migration or closure successfully?

With over 20 years experience in China, Mr. Etienne Charlier was Senior Officer in high-tech company Alcatel and Procur Asia. He believed that the lack of affordablity in China’s top cities such as Beijing and Shanghai triggered national wide migration of factories.

In his speech, a.shifted focus of local governments, b.productivity increase, c.innovation develop and d.more balanced and sustainable economy are also contribute to factory migration.
